About Gavin Kingsley
I am a Northern California–based drummer, educator, and drum tech with a foundation in jazz, rock, and contemporary music. My work spans live performance, studio recording, and digital content creation.
I perform with the funk and jazz band Kings Milk, the alternative rock band Queen Karma, and the rock band Spuce. I also collaborate with the Steven Bates Band in Mendocino. In addition, I am an active performer with the Jazz Combos, Jazz Orchestra, Calypso Band, Percussion Ensemble, World Percussion Ensemble, and Wind Ensemble at Cal Poly Humboldt.
Beyond performing, I create educational and musical content for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Patreon, sharing my experiences and insights with a global audience. Whether on stage, in the studio, or behind the soundboard, I am committed to professionalism, collaboration, and meaningful musical experiences.
I am deeply invested in drum tuning and drum acoustics. I approach the drums as melodic musical instruments, carefully shaping pitch, resonance, and balance to create a refined, expressive sound. Whether on stage or in the studio, my goal is simple: to deliver musical, controlled, and compelling drum sounds that elevates the music.
